For when youā€™re hurtingā€¦

Jun 15, 2022

When you're hurting, it can be difficult to love yourself.

However, it is essential that you do so in order to make progress on your personal development journey. Allowing yourself to experience the full extent of the human experience, good and bad, is necessary in order to learn and grow. There are tools available to help you through this process, including self-dialogue and remembering that you are capable of love, no matter the pain. With these tools, you can move forward with compassion and understanding for yourself and others.

This week’s episode of the Living out Love Podcast is here to help you connect with the divine energy that is always present and to remind you that you are not alone. So what exactly does that mean? Let’s dive in.

When you're feeling hurt, it's important to be gentle with yourself. There are things you can do to help yourself feel better and move forward. Here’s a list of eight tips to help you recover from emotional pain.

1. Acknowledge your pain.

Acknowledging your pain is an important first step to healing when you’re hurting. When you're in pain, it's easy to feel like you're alone and that nobody understands what you're going through. This can be especially true if your pain is emotional or mental rather than physical. It's important to remember that you're not alone and that there are people who do understand what you're going through. Talking about your pain can also be helpful, both for yourself and for the people who care about you. It can be a relief to share your feelings with somebody else, and it can help you to start healing. If you're hurting, don't hesitate to reach out for help. You deserve to feel better, and there are people who want to help you achieve that.

2. Consider seeking counseling or therapy.

One of the best things about counseling or therapy is that you know it is dedicated time to focus on yourself and healing without trying to soldier through it on your own. Talking with a professional is always a great choice to help you gain new perspectives and work towards getting back on track.

3. Write about your hurt feelings in a journal.

Journaling your hurt feelings allows you time for reflection. When we bottle up our emotions, they tend to fester and grow until they explode in an outburst or we sink into a deep depression. Journaling allows us to express our feelings in a safe, non-judgmental space. It also helps us to track our progress and see how far we've come.

4. Connect with a loved one for support.

We all should have loved ones we can rely on for support. If you don't have any loved ones who are supportive, there are plenty of other resources available to you, such as therapy or self-help groups. This type of support is especially comforting when you’re hurting. Sharing your feelings and talking to someone who understands what you're going through can help you feel better and more empowered to continue your journey.

Find supportive people who do not try to hurt painful feelings. Allow the painful feeling, that’s the only way to truly reach a positive feeling - to move through whatever comes up on the journey back to well-being and peace.

5. Remember that you are not alone in your hurt.

No matter how dark things seem, know that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Remember tip 4, lean on your loved ones for support, and don't be afraid to ask for help from professionals when needed. Remember that you are worth fighting for.

6. Turn to your spiritual practice for guidance and healing.

Did you know a support system can also come in the form of spiritual practice? Whether you turn to prayer, meditation, or another form of spirituality, it can be incredibly helpful to have that connection to a higher power during difficult times. Spending time on your spiritual journey can also help you heal from past hurts. By exploring your beliefs and connecting with your innermost self, you can begin to let go of the pain that's been holding you back. This process can be challenging but ultimately rewarding, as it allows you to move on from the past and focus on the present and future.

7. Love yourself through the process.

When you're hurting, it can be difficult to love yourself. You may feel like you're not good enough, that you don't deserve to be happy. You are going through a healing process, and that takes time. Be gentle with yourself, and allow yourself to heal in your own way and at your own pace. There is no right or wrong way to do this.

When you love yourself, you're more likely to take care of yourself. When you take care of yourself, you're more likely to be kinder to others. When you're kinder to others, the world becomes a better place.

So, start with yourself. Love yourself. Unconditionally. And then watch how that love radiates out into the world around you. It really is that simple and powerful. You'll be amazed at the changes that come about when you operate from a place of self-love.

8. Know that you will heal in time.

Remember healing takes time just keep moving forward. Give yourself the space and care that you need to heal. Do what feels good. Relax in a hot bath, read your favorite book, take a walk in nature, or do something else that brings you joy. When you focus on taking care of yourself, you will find that the healing process becomes a little bit easier. You are strong and capable, and you can get through this.

Remember: You are strong and capable, you will heal in time.

No one ever said healing would be easy. In fact, it can be downright difficult at times. This is especially true when you're going through a tough time and feeling pain, sadness, or anger. But don't worry, you're not alone. We've all been there at some point in our lives. And we'll all likely experience difficult times again in the future. That's just part of life. The important thing is that we don't give up on ourselves during these challenging moments. Keep these eight tips in mind to help you get through tough times and continue on your journey and overcome whatever challenges come your way.
